I am taking a three year old lab that is very skitish around other people. I am looking for tips to help reduce the stress and help the transition. I am also curious about what if anything I should put on the bottom of the kennel? Is there anything that I can do at the airport that they don't tell you that you can do
Brian,
Anything you add to the bottom will cause increased weight which will increase shipping costs.
However..... I use a full size bath towel that I've used once as dog bedding when I ship dogs as I believe that a dog will be soothed by it's owners scent during the flight. That's a worth a few extra dollars in shipping cost to me.
I go through a lot of cheap bath towels per year, needless to say...... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />
If you feel your dog might be nervous about flying, give him some Melatonin about an hour before flight time. You could also put some Rescue Remedy in his water.
