My 9 1/2 yr. old bitch has very worn teeth, the vet said it's from the glue used making tennis balls that erodes the enamel. She played with them her whole life. Don't know if it's true, but thought I'd pass it on. Our new pup (a Decker Rat Terrier) is only getting hard rubber. Good luck with Fred--great name too! ~Carol

I have hard rubber balls on the string and bringsels for him when he gets older. I was trying to get him to retreive, and I needed something small enough he could actually put in his mouth, and bring back to me without stepping on the string.
