First off i have two 10 month shepherds both have been obedience trained but not by me. I purchased both dogs from von zoeller kennels and max has been odedience trained by laura at the kennel, now gila was imported from eurosport kennels and was obedience trained there. I have enrolled in the obedience class at the tom rose school and will work both dogs there. My goal after the obedience classes is to work both dogs into schutzhund training. Also i have thought about taking both dogs to the akc classes offered in the town i live in, since the tom rose school is two hours away for me. Would working them in both classes be to much or counter productive? The main reason for thinking about going to the akc classes is that the tom rose classes are only on saturdays and i work alot of saturdays and dont know how much i attend that class. In all honesty i need the training the most just dont want to start off on the wrong path here.
thanks
Jeff,
Attending the Tom Rose classes for OB is like having Mark Spitz teach you how to swim.
I'd tell you that whatever sacrifice that you make to attend those classes there will pay you back 10x over in the future.
Also, you went out of your way to buy good dogs from established kennels, right? Don't skimp now on the training when you've got a choice that most people *wish* they had! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />
I will make every attempt i can to attend the tom rose classes. Going to try and make the most out of it 110%, i believe i made a good choice on pups max( sire: barny al-zdor/dam: flame z danaru) and gila(sire: nuky/dam: fela z lipin).
