Hmmm.....my post disappeared.
Cesar Millan: Type in his name under "search" (upper right). You'll find 90% great opinions and a big disappointment over an episode three weeks ago.
Uncle Matty is a no-corrections-ever trainer, at least from his videos and his old TV series. However, he does have good basic obedience and assessment skills, and I think that a pet owner could do much worse.
I am a huge Cesar Millan fan and have seen him in person, taped every episode, and am reading his new book now, which is why I suggest you use "search" (for a better-balanced viewpoint).
"Uncle Matty" doesn't know his butt from a hole in the ground.
Notice his listed accomplishments are training dogs for celebrities. What you don't see are what titles he's attained, which are certainly better proof of his ability.
< shrug >
Not to be disagreeable but titles aren't the end all of dog trainers. I know people who don't know one end of the dog from the other that have titled dogs. Cesar has made a favorable impression upon me and I believe many others...how many titles does he have?
Don't emulate anyone in an absolute fashion. You should be your own trainer! There are pros and cons with every trainer and method. The important thing is you can look at a variety of methods and apply it to the right dog at the right time.
I would have to concur with Will about Uncle Matty though. I remember watching his TV show years ago when he had one and my god did he have an annoying voice! <gets headache just thinking about it> Poor dog must've listened to him do his high-pitched praise and thought it was being punished <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />
But by the token of what I said before....I do have an uncle matty book on my book shelf!

I just went to his web sight and apparenty he is selling imported Sch dogs for personal protection work. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif" alt="" /> his cartoon websight is a bit over the top. He certainley wouldn't be on my list of potential trainers
