Is KKL2 truly that inferior to a KKL1? I've been told to only consider pups from KKL1 parents but I really like the looks and drive of this KKL2 female. Opinions?
If the dog has all that you want going for it then KKL2 I would go for.
As a matter of interest zidane von haus sevens is KKL2.
And he is very much sought after for breeding..!
so there is your answer.
Hope that helps

I would just say that it's probably then best if the sire is KKL1 and ideally helps balance her weaknesses. My pup is coming from a breeding between a KKL2 female and a KKL1 male, but both have what I'm looking for in a pup, including SchH3 on females all the way through both pedigrees. I'd take this breeding ANY day over one using a KKL1 female with less of what I want in the pedigree.
Good luck choosing your puppy! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
It doesn't matter!! Anyone that tells you to look for only KKL1 dogs are jackasses. You would be eliminating a good portion of the best working stock available.
Frankly, I don't give a rat's butt about the dog's KKL rating. . . or lack of for that matter.
Laurel, I wouldn't put to much weight on the KKL ratings for a working dog. IF she has all the other features that you are seeking (drive, structure, etc) I wouldn't pass her up b/c of a KKL2 rating on one of the parents. Many of the best working dogs are KKL2. I suppose if your interested in showline dogs its a somewhat greater consideration, however for a working dog... there are more important things than being rated KKL1 (in my opinion anyway, I'm sure there are those who would disagree).
I'd agree with that my dog came from 2 kkl 2 parents...the most important thing to me was that she works and she does <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />
