We have a one year old black lab. My problem is that he used to play really well, i.e. frisbee, kong, ball and would bring and give really well. Now he will get it but will not bring or give and usually runs away. Can someone give me some advice on 1) what we did wrong to cause this behavior, and 2) how we can break him of it. He does great at come, sit, stay, down, etc. and he doesn't jump or isn't aggressive.

You are taking the toy away too often or too forcefully, causing your dog to be stressed about losing the toy. If you are not going to train a formal retrieve in the future, offer a second toy in exchange. Offer high value treats in exchange for the toy.
Until your dog relaxes and is not stressed about giving you the toy, play with him on a long line so you can "reel him in" if necessary.
