Ann, the dog was an 8 year old narcotics GSD who was dumped in a shelter by his own police officer handler <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif" alt="" /> after many of years of service.
Why?
Because the officers new wife didn't like the dog and said officer thought he was too old to do the job.
Nice, I hope his kids do the same to him when the time comes.

Well, I'm glad he is going to a rescue, at least. Poor dog, I hope someone will take him & give him the retirement he deserves. His previous owner should be ashamed. What a sad, sad story.
