i would like to get a few opinions on this question. i realize it is better to wait until a year at least but do you think a hip xray at 5 months old would be conclusive or a waste of money? thanks.
We do x-rays at 7 to 8 months here at the kennel. The OFA has determined that 85% of the dogs that have good hips at 5 months are still good at two year.
Read the article I wrote on how to position hips for x-rays
I was just wondering why you want to do the x-ray so early? Do you think your dog has a problem?
From what I was told before about hip dysplasia, only about 30% of it is genetic, the rest is due to how good the dogs nutrition is and any injuries it has had at a young age.
