Amanada,
Please note that as per the forum rules you are allowed only two pictures in the "Members and Bio section", and you have to be included in one of the photos.
Please correct your post to bring it into compliance with the forum rules.
I am transfering the post to the correct section.

you know what, after reading some posts and seeing how ridiciulous some of the rules are here, after only being a member for about a week... I would rather just not come back to this forum EVER AGAIN. Its too bad, but I do not find this place very friendly or welcoming to new people. I will find a better place with nicer people.
regards
Amanda

Amanda,
In the chance that you may see this, I'm sorry that you feel this way. This is a dog training forum, not a dog chat forum. I appreciate the rules as they keep conversation lively and informative.
If you want to learn to raise your pup from experienced people from many viewpoints, this is the place to be. If you only want to hear about how cute your dog is, well, we're not so good at that.
I didn't exactly get the warmest welcome myself, but it helped me realize that I was doing some fantastically stupid things, and showed me how to fix it. How fantastically stupid? Well after 4 months of training, the dog had to be euthanized. I don't want anyone else to have the experience following bad training advice and ruining their dogs -- call it rude or blunt if you will. I am not thinking of the owner's ego but of the dog's interest.
I could not be more thankful for this forum. It has taken my dog from not even housetrained (adult) to a performance dog.

Great post, Anne.
Nice-looking pup, Amanda! Stick around and you'll have a place to get the real training help you need when you need it.

Wow, I can't believe this lady freaked. Will said NOTHING closely remotely mean at all. I was actually reading his post in a "nicey advisey" tone voice. I actaully got in trouble by Will once but hey, I'm still here. Nice pup by the way.

Just curious?

Matt - because that's the way the forum owner wants it - and I think it's a good policy. Before Ed put that little rule into effect there were people with just a few posts but like 13 pictures of their dogs, which ate up *a lot* of bandwidth, which slows down the loading of the site for all the other posters.
Everybody benefits from this rule, and for the people that want to show off their dog they can set up a Photo bucket site and post a link, which works greats.
Ed's quote from the introduction of the "Member Photo and Short Bio":
"This forum is the place for a picture or two of you and your dog. Only two photos are allowed and one must contain a photo of the owner. Any posts that contain more than 2 photos will be deleted. Tell us a little about yourself if you like. It's always nice to put a face with a name."
That statement is right at the start of that particular forum on the Main Index page, a person can't click into that area without skipping right past it..........
so it's a bit frustrating for the Forum Owner and Mod's to have to get folks to follow well spelled-out rules.

Most people do not read forum rules as they are pretty standard......except for this board. I don't know of any other board this large that limits the amount of information you may post. It certainly can make it seem an inhospitable place at times and also slow. In the case of the search instead of post issue eventually no one will post anymore because it has been somewhat talked about previously. Ed is intent on keeping this a serious training board which is his perrogative and makes this board an invaluable resource. Some may disagree with the way he goes about it, but it's his board.

Not at all picking on you, Luke -- just commenting on a couple of topics you mentioned.
I've been on rule-free boards that took forever to load (and wouldn't have loaded with dialup, which is actually all there is in some parts of the country) because of all the pictures in every forum. Of course, if the picture is normal-size, it also makes the text scroll out wide to the size of the picture. Personally, I find that annoying , as much as I love pictures (in a certain spot).
The thing about "search" -- it takes a second to put your term in quotes and enlarge the search date range. I've only been on the forum here for a year or so, but I've certainly seen people post the same question (exactly) two hours after it was posted and answered in full -- soon enough so that both posts showed up on the "active topics" screen.
That's a good thing to avoid, IMHO, to keep the board from turning into several others I used to visit where the same question is posted (sometimes by the same person) in six sections of the index.
There's a specific-breed board I used to visit, too, where someone (or more, who knows?) had used online photos of other people's titled dogs in their bios, presumably to enhance their image as owner of great dogs. sigh
Just another point of view.......
