My 8 month old Doberman has a cyst(or what I think was a cyst) on his rear paw right next to his pad. It is not on the pad iteself. Today we went to the vet and while waiting the cyst? came off and bleed very bad. Has anyone else seen this? The vet seems to think that it may be a normal thing.
They wrapped the leg and applied the dreaded e-collar to keep him from chewing off the bangage.

There's something called Interdigital Pyoderma, or Interdigital Cysts.
From what I understand (and I am not a health professional), there are several possible underlying causes, such as bacterial infections, allergies, and mites. So I guess what I would do is ask the vet what s/he thinks caused it, so the condition can be treated. Maybe the vet didn't see any obvious underlying condition and decided to wait and see if it recurs.
I'd at least ask if that's what s/he meant by "cyst."
P.S. Dogs feet, like their heads, bleed copiously, in my experience.
Thanks for the information. I forgot to say the vet did start him on Simplicef 200mg once a day. From what I have found this is used for skin infections ect. He goes back in a week for a re check. Thanks again!
