My GSD pup has just had his 6-month birthday! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
I've had his ears taped for the last two weeks now, and as you can tell by my other thread it's driving us both nuts. However he's not doing as bad as the first week...
It's been exactly 14 days of taping now, and one ear is up and looks perfect. The other, however, shows hardly any improvement at all. It's still very droopy, just like a lab's ear.
My breeder told me to keep them taped for 3-4 weeks, then take off the tape and let them be for a few days. If they're not up after a few days, she told me to re-tape them for 3-4 weeks.
What do you all think of that schedule? I was just wondering if 8 weeks is too long to have his ears taped up, or if that is what it sometimes takes and is fine.
She also told me that even if one ear is standing up, to keep both ears taped. However in Ed's article section, I see a picture of a pup with one ear up and one ear taped... so do I need to keep both ears taped?
hey lee . know what you're going through . never did have to tape up hectors' ( 6 mo BC ) ears , but he did have one down for about a month . typical teething thing i'm told . both were fully pricked up prior to that , but then one went down . it wasn't like it had no strength , he seemed to be laying it back on purpose , and then over time ( 1 week ) it came up and stayed there . huge relief on my part , because that was one of the traits i'd selected for from this particular breeder . i really like having those big signals on top of his head to read .
