I wont go into to detail unless you want them, but I just had the whelping from hell. To make a long story short. I was able to recognize that my bitch was in serious trouble and able to get her to the emergency clinic for help with a stuck puppy. Unfortunatly the clinic made me bring my 7 live pups in also. Where they did not make sure they were being fed. I had my gram scale out and had weighed them before bring them in. When my 6 pups (1 had died at the clinic) returned home only 11 hours after going in they all had lost between 50 and 80 grams. Thanks to your video Whelping puppies I was prepared to tube feed. I am so angry at the clinic for not taking better care of my pups. And so thankful for having that video and watching it until I knew it inside and out. I do not know why the 1 pup died but the vet tech said to me when I went to pick up my dog. "Boy your dog does not like other dogs does she". My question to them is why was she even near another dog Sorry I had to vent. I hope my pups make it. I am doing every thing aI can for them. Thanks again.
I would make a formal complaint with the clinic.
And maybe even your state's veterinary medical board. They endangered a mom and an entire litter! I hope everyone else is safe and okay, and congrats are in order for those still with you!

What was their answer?
That answer would probably be part of my written complaint(s).
There was no answer of course. The second I asked that question they relized they should have said nothing. I would have made more of a seen except that I did not relize until I got my puppies home and weighed them that I had even bigger problems. Got to go check on pups I will update tomorrow
Just to give an update. I tubed feed again last night and by morning all pups looked good. I weighed them again at noon to find no gain tube fed again. At 5pm pups are very active and hungry. At last they are strong enough to nurse from mom. Everyone has a full belly. Lets hope I am in the clear.

So far, so good! I'm glad you updated.

Too bad your dog is so unfriendly with other dogs. It's always interesting to see when that can crop up to be a problem you'd have never thought about.
Have to say, EVERY vet's office I've ever been to has areas where there are other animals when I am taken back to the longer term illness/monitoring area. Whether it's in a larger pen type area (kennel?) with other dogs also being boarded or ill, I've had to walk past them with my dog. And same for the crated/cage area, there are usually some other dogs in them (getting ready for surgery, recovering from surgery or needing to be watched). And maybe even CATS!
So I'm not sure where everyone else is living that their dog can be in the back rooms of the vets office and have a serious expectation that they are the only dog in the building.
Course I've prepared all my dogs to enjoy vet vists and behave around other dogs, so even when they aren't feeling well there's not any real extra stress added by having other dogs around at the vets. I personally feel that I owe it to my dogs to prepare them for real life situations, and MY life tends to have lots of other dogs in it. So penned and crated dogs are a piece of cake.

I didn't get that all the dogs were put together loose in a room, just that this dog reacted to other dogs. And, as I said, I have a popular and busy vet, and when I go into the back rooms there are pretty much ALWAYS other dogs and cats back there. Getting prepped. Recovering. Under observation. And there is no real way to have NO sight line with these other animals as we are walking past. So if my dog WAS over reactive, there is just no other way I can move around with my dogs at the vets. ALL the animals are either crated or kenneled, but they are ALL also easily within sight and in regular sized rooms.
I have never been to a vet's that it would be possible for my dogs to never see another dog/cat/pet in either the front or back rooms. Especially when animals are in for a problem that needs to be monitored. There's only so much staff on duty and they need to watch ALL the animals the best they can, and that tends to be in the same recovery/observational type area.
The interaction that made the staff member comment could have been as simple as a growl passing another cage with a dog in it. NORMAL in my vet office for such a passing to occur.
