I know this is a corso site but scroll down a little and read the story. Very good thing to maybe have copied and posted here as a reminder for people that are thinking about getting a dog. LINK

Thank you for posting this, Steve. Will Rambeau posted it last year; it's a sobering reminder to pass along.

Didnt see it was a repost but like you said it is a good reminder.
I just dont understand people that can hurt or do this to such great animals. People like that are right up there on my list next to people that take/kill children. I told my wife working with the ASPCA or similar groups would be something great for me to do but im afraid I would get arrested for hurting people.

I've never read this exact story before but I've read similar. And this one made the hair on my arms stand up while looking at my bud, Romeo. I do my best each week to volunteer at the shelter and every night that I come home I emotionally drained because with each dog my son and I care for - my heart breaks into a million pieces. Well over 30 a day - homeless, once loved pups, teens and elderly dogs sit in these cages and wait for someone to care for them on a daily, nightly basis. In a matter I dread going there each week because I HATE seeing the owners that ocme in and say "We have to let her go, we Have CHILDREN". In my very own opinan - I grew up around dogs - my children are being raised around dogs/cats/fish... ect. What's better for a child than a best furry friend?
This story brought me to tears.. so sorry I babbled.
I feel more responsibility towards a stray I pick up in the street than some people seem to feel towards dogs they have for years. It is disheartening to say the least.
my personal "lamest excuse": we're moving and can't have a dog. well, SORRY, but i've had dogs and rented for 20 yrs., and ALWAYS was able to find a place that would allow a *large* dog.
as they say "THAT dog won't hunt". and i would hate to work at a shelter and listen to the self-serving *reasons* the dog has to go; i'm afraid i wouldn't be allowed to have any part of the "intake" interview. might go postal
I have heard more than one story of people surrending their "old" dog and leaving with a new puppy. How shelters can allow this just leaves me shaking me head in disbelief!

I agree 100%. We WILL NOT move into a new place unless they allow pets. I don't think we've ever even considered renting from a landlord that wont allow dog/cat. *Shakes head* If one looks HARD enough you will find that MANY landlords are willing to work with you if you provide referances, ect that you are a good pet owner. =0) At least we've had ALOT of success in renting and being able to have our furry friends around. I couldn't imagine life without them.
