My 4 1/2 month old male GSD is what I consider lazy. Should I be worried? He just lays around all day and tires very quickly durning play. He is a great house dog and is very obedient, but does not show a lthe amount of energy that I would expect from a puppy.
Ken-
How long have you had him? Could he still be adjusting to you?
Also, i know its early for signs to show (and unlikely at his age) but have you thought of having his thyroid tested?
Was this PE normal at the vet?
Just a thought.........
I have had him since he was 6 weeks old, so he is well adjusted to us. He is a great dog just not as energitic as I was expecting. We have not discussed the problem with our vet so we have done no tests. And sorry for my ignorance but what is a PE?

I don't know what a PE is either but in my experience this is not what I would expect. You know this puppy and if you feel something is not right you should discuss it with the vet.

it sounds to me like he doesn't feel well. a visit to the vet is in order and find out if he has low thyroid or some other malady.
also, what are you feeding him? the wrong food can definitely make anyone feel sluggish. have you looked into feeding him a natural diet? by that i mean, whole raw foods like chicken necks and eggs and beef hearts and other raw, meaty bones?
if you would like to investigate the diet, you can do a search here on "raw feeding," and also i recommend the book "grow your pup with bones" by ian billinghurst, dvm.
puppies raised on this diet are far more energetic than your average puppy. it gave my older dog a new lease on life when i switched him to it.
Have you arranged for health insurance for your pup yet?
If not, I suggest you talk to your Vet and ask which provider they are most comfortable with.
I recommend that you wait until this insurance is in place, before you express you concerns about your pup’s health to your Vet.
It could be something, it most likely will be nothing!.
Health insurance on a family pet is a great security blanket
I have taken him to the vet a couple of times and with the basic PE they said that he looked fine. We have him on a raw diet and he is at a healthy weight. He is not to fat you can still feel his ribs when you touch his sides. He has a great food drive and would keep eating no matter how much I gave him. The raw diet I am givieing him is prepared frozen raw food from a company here in Southern CA. It sound to me that mabey I need to take him to the vet to have him checked out.
