My friend's GSD is 14 months old and still doesn't lift his leg.. My Mal began lifting his leg at around 6 months old.. I guess that there's nothing to worry about..

My dog is 2 and mostly squats, but will lift his leg once in awhile.
Not sure if this is just a myth, but I have been told that if a pup is neutred earlier in life...that they will more than likely squat for the rest of their lives. Anything before a year or something like that
But, like i said, I am not saying thats scientific proof.

True it`a a myth. It`s mostly a learned behavior. I`ve had intact males that squatted and neutered males that lifted. It only matters if it affects your on personal sense of masculinity.
The only thing needed for evil to exist is for good men to stand by and do nothing!!!
I had my JRT neutered at around 6 or 7 months. He never lifted his leg ever until the day I picked up a piss happy stray when he was 1 year and 4 months old. I will never forget that dog because he had a funny looking fused left leg from a surgery and he taught my little pup to pee like a big dog.
My 4 yr old, intact Golden Ret (Noley) did not start lifting his leg until he was about 2 yrs old. He does on occassion find a spot he wants to mark and rather than urinate on it he will deficate instead. My 4 mos. old GSD (Coach) has lifted his leg ever since I brought him home at about 10 weeks.
For those of you who remember my difficult decision about having to put down my other GSD (Koach) this is his replacement. The new pups name is Seminole von Windmill, call name is Coach
Terry
Hans is 1 year old now. Today, when I took him out, he lifted his leg. Not high. He didn't aim to the side, but he did lift it. I told my son about this when he came home from school. He told me he's started lifting Hans leg for him from time to time. Maybe that will work
