Here is the reply from the RSPCA I received concerning this issue.
"Thank you for your web enquiry.
The RSPCA has not been involved in this case, but is aware of it. Saxon was seen on Friday 19 August by the Institute of Professional Dog Trainers, so we are waiting for the results of that assessment.
If you want to keep up with the daily news on Saxon, go to the below website. The thread is in the police section so they only allow registered members to view that section. That thread is about 13 pages now, and thats after it was closed once and reopened. You can get a pretty clear view of how things work in the UK regarding biting dogs in general and police dogs specifically.
the press release/eval brings a few questions to my mind, but what do i know? i'm thinkin' there's "more to the story".....
at any rate, perhaps a good dog's life was saved, and that's worth SOMETHING <img src="http://www.leerburg.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif" alt="" />

The full report makes interesting reading and seems to explain how this whole 'dogs breakfast' was served-up <img src="http://www.leerburg.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />
One hopes that all concerned have learnt a lot from it.
At least Saxon continues to 'have a life', and probably a more satisfactory one at that.
