Hi
Sorry if this isn't the right place to post this, or if it's been discussed before. I couldn't find answers to this question in previous posts. I've found conflicting information on the rules as to competing with a spayed female dog in Schutzhund in the U.S. Does anyone know where I can find this specific information? Are there some sanctioned competions that allow it and some don't?
Thank you,
Lynn
Lynn, I would contact the organization you are planning on competing with directly just to make sure. I know DVG would allow it and as Will pointed out, USA probably would except for a breed survey. However, if you have another breed and wanted to compete within their breed club, (United Doberman Club, NAWBA, etc), I'd double check with them just to make sure.
I know you said this is just for competing in the U.S. and I'm not sure what your goals are, but if I remember correctly I seem to remember my training partner saying that a spayed female would not be allowed to compete in the IDC Dobermann World Championship for IPO for instance. That may be a rule that the ADA (American Dobermann Association) may have to abide by in the States since they are members of the DV and follow their regulations.
I wasn't able to find anything in a simple websearch to confirm all this, but I would still contact the organization you are interested in competing under just to make sure.
As Will said, you can compete in any USA competition with a spayed female - you are only restricted from conformation showing and breed survey. I am not sure, but think that only KKl dogs are allowed to be on the WUSV team as well. Not sure about that, but you would be allowed into any club, regional or National level Schh competition with a spayed female or neutered male.

Thanks everyone for your help. Kristina, I think that would be the safest, if I contact each group individually and see what they require. (I'm so confused) I don't plan on breeding and would rather not deal with heat cycles, but I also don't want to make a rash decision and spay if it causes competition grief too. Why didn't I get a boy? :-D

Back in the '80's we had a club member (usa) who competed with a bitch spayed due to pyrometria. I believe she was spayed between her schII & III titles. Really nice little GSD.
