Hey everybody!
My 11 week old cockapoo puppy has not had an accident in his kennel since we got him, the first 3 nights we got up in the middle of the night to let him out and then we stopped and he has never had an accident since, we've had him for about 3 weeks now...And then this morning we woke up at the usual time to let him outside and he had peed on his towel that he has had in his kennel the whole time! I'm just wondering if this was just a dumb accident or if this could be a sign of more problems to come. The pee seemed pretty fresh (funny concept), like still wet so it must not have been too early in the night. Any thoughts on why he did this or if you think he may do it again?

I would make his last drink a little earlier in the evening and then I'd get him out to pee a little earlier in the morning.
I'd bleach his towel so it has no attractive "pee on me" smell.
I think this was an accident, that it means very little, and that taking him out more will fix it. <img src="http://www.leerburg.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" />
How much room does he have in the crate? If you give him too much room they can get away from their "accident"
But I too think it was and accident and that you just need to monitor his water intake and give him plenty of opportunities to go outside.
Its a small crate, I'm familiar with the finding a corner to eliminate and a corner to sleep...its just big enough for him to turn around lay down with a little head room. Have you ever noticed that puppies pee when they are in new environments? I was close to thinking our pup was almost house trained (with our help) and then I took him into our basement while I did laundry (he never goes down there) and he peed w/in minutes. I was wondering if it had something to do with a new environment. Also, how do you stop a pup from peeing out of excitment, the other day I came home and went to pick him up excited to see him and I saw a few little pees drops.
