Ok here is my issue. My GSD is coming up on 11 months and he eats about 5 pounds a day of a natural diet as I followed Ed's diet he feed his dogs. He is healthy and happy (my dog not Ed, but I am sure Ed is happy and healthy too....lol) Any ways he is skinny and only on his right side as the other side appears normal.
He does not have any disease or cancer and he is in good health. He is constantly active and on the go. I have tried pigs ears to fatten him up and it sorta worked but back to the skinny he went...
I agree Robert; I keep my dogs skinny too. Now I just need someone to get and keep my skinny too! LOL!
There have been numerous times when I've told a friend/family member who asked that I thought their dog was overweight. Many of them have been surprised by this assessment and some have said their vet has told them otherwise. Of course I'm speaking from the perspective of wanting a dog lean and mean in order to have long lasting stamina for work. But hey, they asked!
One of my dogs was the same way when she was a pup, ate lots but never put on the weight. Then when she was about a year old, her metabolism seemed to slow down, and now that she's 2 she eats about half of what she ate when she was younger. As long as you've ruled out any health problems, then I wouldn't worry about it.
