Hi all, I got my Bernard Flinks DVD (love it btw.) and I have tried the ball on a string, but my dog still wants the tug more than anything else. I would like to know what size tug would be appropriate for this type of work. I have the medium tug # 858 and I am not sure this is the correct size, maybe to big? any ideas? thanks
In the beginning you want to make sure the tug size is not too big for a puppies mouth. With older dogs its an issue of what they like. After the training has progressed and the dog is into the work he will be expected to bite whats presented but in the beginning your work with him.
I have an old saying "If he turns on the GREEN LIGHT you put on the GREEN SHIRT"
I apologize for the misunderstanding, it’s the length of the tug that I am concerned over. I am not sure if this is a correct length to “make drive” with. My puppy is 11 months old and carries and bites the tug well, I think that maybe the length of the tug causes him to jump into me at times, or maybe it’s a handler error. I must study the DVD better. Thanks
