My 6 month old pup recently was diagnosed with a few dental disorders. He has a wry bite, undershot jaw, maxillary brachygnathism, and base narrow occlusion.
He had his bottom left canine baby tooth pulled ...since it didn't shed on it's own...to allow the adult tooth to move out into it's proper position( right now it's on the inside and touches the palate)hopefully, over time.
Has anyone else ever seen this in the DDR or Czech dogs? His pedigree can be found here http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/gsd/pedigree/390004.html
The dental specialist said he couldn't say for sure that all of these things wouldn't self-correct because he IS still growing. But there are a few things going on, not just one thing.... Does anyone know of any cases where
any of these types of conditions presented at the puppy stage and then self corrected?

My pup had malocclusion of his canines around five months of age. I can't remember if it included his upper or lower canines, or both. He also had to have them removed (all four). They did not fall out by themselves and his adult teeth were erupting crooked. It self corrected as soon as the baby teeth were pulled. He's 1/4 DDR, no Czech. His pedigree is available on my website.

Thanks Jackie, can you be more specific about the malocclusion? Which teeth were pulled that later self corrected? Was it only the teeth being out of alignment( crooked) that was his issue?

Oh, duh, you did say canines! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />
I guess I'm really more curious if an undershot jaw or wry bite would self correct as opposed to a tooth out of alignment due to retained baby teeth, which seems like an easier thing to imagine being able to self correct.
Also i wonder if this is something that can crop up in any of the czech or DDR lines in particular....both of my pups parents were kkl1, so I was really blindsided by this development!! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />

OK, and now I also see they share Xento v d Maineiche...so I guess I am just wondering if anyone else has any knowledge of dention problems buried somewhere among the dogs in his lines, or if this was just a total fluke!

Why do you ask?
I wouldn't call that a "Czech" pedigree, don't blame that on my Czech blood! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />
No, I've never even heard of all these types of problems in a dog. . .let alone heard of them in some bloodlines. I think it is a freak genetic accident honestly.

Van Camp, I LOVE the czech dogs!! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />
Glad to hear that it is not something seen in any of the lines then, I felt that the lineage was awesome.....
So, how about anyone out there knowing the chances of an underbite or wry bite self correcting by maturity?

Anybody???
From what I hear these conditions are not too common to begin with, perhaps no one really has experienced this type of grouping together of these dental issues?? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />

I noticed the Xento and Lord connection, as well, but have never heard of dental problems in these lines.
