Ok im at a loss here. Bane will pee a little when he see's someone he hasnt seen in a long time. At first I thought it was because of his bladder size/puppyhood but he is almost 8mos now and still does it. It isnt a fear thing because he knows the people and is in "insane happy tail wag mode when it happens" I have never had a pup that does this so im kinda curious if it is normal to a certian age with some pups? He will even do it after I have taken him out.
What do you think would be a sign of it Candi? I thought that might be it in the beginning but I am not seeing any signs pointing twoards it. It seem's to only happen when they use "baby talk"
The "baby talk" gets him overly excited/overly stimulated (makes him go all wiggly-giggly) and he pees -- That's SU in my book (he doesn't have to be frightened, the extreme attention alone is enough to cause it) IMHO
I'm sure there are LOTS of other posts on submissive urination in the Leerburg archives, if you'd like to do a search & read <:-)
None of them seem to fit because it is only with people he hasnt seen in a long time. Thats the part that doesnt make sense to me.
My cousin has a dog that does this, but only when it sees me or her sister. We're the only 2 people who trigger it, and it's definitely an excitement thing. (I know, Steve, you're wondering how anyone could be excited to see me... . What I do is ignore the dog totally until he chills out a little. Talking to him makes it much worse, regardless of the tone. I don't even look at him, and this does help. I wouldn't freak out yet; he's still young.
