Has anyone here used a springer or a walky dog with a small dog?(about 10" at the shoulder) I've only seen them with big dogs that can't fit as easily under a wheel. I couldn't tell by pictures if the part that attaches to the bike would hold the dog away from the bike. I tried to run my JRT the other night to make him tired for bed and I swear to God he laughed at me. I'm pretty sure I almost died.

A Bikerdog should work well for a JRT. It's closer to the ground and they send a nice extension and harness. I use it for my GSD but it should be fine for your dog. It's worked out well, works best if you have a larger frame bike.

The bike I had then...well...it sucked and I got bored quick and never got one of these attachments.
My wife and I bought new, nicer bikes a few weeks ago. With bicycles, I am now a firm believer in you get what you pay for.
We got the bikes, a trailer for the little guy, and a Walky Dog for Turbo.
In the video I have the Walky Dog hooked to the trailer. Should something happen, and I wreck, the trailer resist tipping over.
When Turbo and I go by ourselves, it is attached to my seat post. I have a longer leash for such occasions.

He took to it right off the bat. The only thing that would make it easier on him would be if I could drive a straight line.
I don't try to run him in the ground with it, just a good jog. Little sucker can do over 2 miles and come home breathing normal, wanting to play.
Here is a pic with the trailer.
Here is a pic without the trailer.

What side of the road do you guys walk, jog, run, or bike on?
I usually walk on the left and have everything on the bike set-up for the left.
I think the right side is where I am suppose to be, but in my neighborhood, with all the idiots , I would like to see that I am about to get hit so I have a chance to dodge.
Normal conditions, with drivers looking out for people, dogs, and bikes, I would definitely say right. With the crazy people that have to go 40 mph on a 20 mph road, I say left.
Curious what everyone else does. Except for Jennifer Mullen, she gets hit. Just kidding, Jennifer.

I face the oncoming traffic when I walk, I live about a block from a strip of bars and restaurants and do not trust the drivers at all, especially when I am walking at night or on the weekends.

:SNIFF:
I had the right of way! HEY!!!!
Walking and running if I'm on the road I'm always facing traffic. Safest way. Biking though you are considered a vehicle (not sure of rules in the States) so you can't do that. Not sure how comfortable I would be doing that with a dog with me though. I also don't bike though, so
(edit: as an aside, I was buying new hiking boots last night and chatting the guy, who was a cyclist and complaining about how he'd been hit by a car turning into him (he had a dislocated shoulder, yikes) and he was telling me how he just LOST it at the guy so then we swapped stories....)

Very nice bike setup Mike!
(Wish I had such a great shiny new bike too...)
I value maneuverability when biking so I prefer not to use any kind of attachment. I just hold the leash (or leashes, if more than one dog) in my left hand, and the bike in my right.
That way I can pull the dogs in quickly when needed and can deliver leash corrections too, if needed.
Yeah, bikers are supposed to stick to the right, like cars. I follow the rules if I'm biking alone, but if I have my dogs with me I'll stick to the left (I feel better putting myself between the dogs and traffic).
Or better yet, use the sidewalk whenever it's available.
I do... don't know exactly how legal that is, but I've been doing it for years and have never received a complaint.
Besides, it's hard to find enough space on the side of the road if you're biking with two large dogs next to you

At least in Toronto, unless you're a kid, you're not allowed on the sidewalk. That's actually a HUGE pet peeve of mine, b/c I think adults on bikes (given the speeds they can go and the space they take up) really can pose a danger to pedestrians.
I always refuse to get out of the way if there is an adult cyclist on the sidewalk, but I may be a b*tch about that. I made some woman cry once b/c I wouldn't move to let her pass, but the street had a bike lane 2 feet away! And once I made some guy go out on the road and told him he wasn't 12 and it was the law, so he rode a ways down, started screaming at me, but as soon as Luc turned around, he ran/biked away, which was funny in its own right. Anyways....now that I've exposed myself as a horrible person
BUT - if someone was biking with their dog, I think I'd be okay with them using the sidewalk
