What DVD do you recommend for a dog bolting out of the door and running off? I almost promise that I read somewhere on here that Ed had a DVD that addressed that particulr issue. I already have Basic Ob and the 8 to 8 puppy DVD.
Are you SURE that's not covered in at least one of those videos (?) since threshold training is a really basic lesson -- I'm pretty sure it's on there <:-)
I remember Morgi the Corgi & Goliath the Dobie "starring" in those lessons, but I can't recall exactly which DVD it was -- Anyway, Cat, keep a leash on your pup & make her sit-stay or down-stay (with a marker & for a treat) while you go through the door first; if she bolts you close the door on her leash & leave her trapped outside for a little while (or close the door GENTLY on her neck & hold it there firmly, but without hurting her!)...
David & Connie, how do your suggestions differ from mine, other than the fact that I also incorporate an automatic correction for disobeying? -- Just curious <:-)
Okay, here goes... My dogs are not fool-proof trained. Working on that slowly but surely. I appreciate Candi's suggestion because it may prevent Bones from being fostered out again and nearly given away by the base vet! Bones got out about 3 weeks ago and was picked up by Security Forces and fostered out to some guy who had 6 or 7 dogs and fed this crappy kibble and had no leadership with the dogs. (sorry about the run on sentence)That was ALL my fault because she had no tags on (hadn't put them on yet). So that was the first part of the solution. The second would be for me to exercise her more and to get the training going better.

Mine doesn't. I was going with the simplicity and immediacy of teaching sit and stay from the ob video (and others) in case looking for the specific chain about bolting out the door wasn't immediately found.
