Man am I having a hard time battling fleas right now! Kane is on frontline for fleas, and hes due for another does in a week but somehow those nasty little bugs still managed to bite him.
So I sprayed the yard again but on his lower back right above his tail his hair is thining from his scratching. Is there anything I can do at home to help soothe the area? Doesnt appear to be red or inflamed but hair is thin from the bites.
How long does it take for the hair to came back in? Poor baby. So handsome and then hes got bald butt! Any ideas on when the hair comes back in or if theres anything I should do? Thanks ahead for any comments.

Get some Canola oil or Safflower oil and mix with his food daily. My dog is 60 pounds and she gets a tablespoon with her evening meal. Be sure to refrigerate the oil to keep it from going bad. That will help from the inside out.
You can put aloe vera gel on the afflicted areas to help from the outside. If it is actually itchy, you can put hydrocortisone cream on it, just watch him and make sure he isn't licking it right off. It could make him sick.
It shouldn't take more than a couple of weeks for the oil to work. Gypsy had the same problem - she has dandruff and her fur was thinning just above her tail, too.

are you shure your dog has fleas? My last bitch (GSD that died last year) had a bad case of alergies that lead to scratching and hear loss... basicly dog looked like some sorry street mutt (used to be a beautifull dog when she was younger). Vets had a look at her (every of them had some idea what it was but none was certain).
Wow I didnt know the oil trick. Can I use any oil or does it have to be Canola or Saffola? And yes it is fleas. When I lift the hair that is still there you can see the bites and a few fleas trying to hide from me. Has anyone heard of Garlic for dogs? I thought I heard someone say that giving a dog a clove of Garlic helps with fleas. Any truth to that? And if so how often? Thanks you guys for the advice!
I got similiar advice for ticks (hope spelling is right) and fleas. One garlic (clove or what it is called) a day. But i can't get my dogs to eat it.
Maybe there is some thruth in garlic and vampire legends... after all fleas are bloodsucking kind.
Chris what exactly are you usig the garlic for? This thread is talking about fleas, ticks, hair loss? This seems to be a problem with some threads. It starts off on one topic and next thing you know you're talking about all kinds of things which gets confusing.
Hi Chastity, I've had super good experiences with Frontline and other equally effective products and I'm wondering if you have gotten hold of some counterfeit medication . This is a real problem in some areas. I have lost the information I had about how to identify the packaging as there are clues to identifying the bad stuff. There was some information about this posted on a web site a couple of months back. I'll call on some of my dog owning friends and track down the info for you.
Yes actually I did find a trainer. He trains at several clubs and locations and I will be meeting him next Friday evening at his home where he trains three days a week. I hope all goes well. I keep you all posted on how it went.
