Last night my best friend Dante passed away peacefully in my arms. Dante died of Hemangiosarcoma which was diagnosed last week. The tumor had made it's way to his heart. He was loveable and trusting to the end. Dante will now see his grandmother Rixi (Leerburg's past office dog) and enjoy a cancer free body somewhere in Rainbow Bridge. With Rixi stealing toys and Dante sucking on wool sweaters I am sure they are having a blast. My heart aches for his loss. He enjoyed flying in the cabins of planes, visiting nursing homes, showing off at schools and nursing every soft thing he could get his mouth on including Cindy's wool sweater (it was 8 times the size in slobber) . How fragile life is that in a week cancer came and took. I have a void in my life now that will never be filled. He took a part of me with him last night.

I have been keeping track of you and Dante and I am sorry to hear of his passing. I know there is nothing I can say to make the overwhelming grief go away. I still cry for my Sausha who passed in January 2006. I will tell Sausha to greet him with opens paws. I am sorry for your loss.

Karmen,
I was so sorry to hear of your loss. He sounds like he was truely a wonderful friend and companion. They are SOOO hard to say goodbye to.
He is not suffering anymore, and maybe, just maybe, Rixi Roo will share some chicken with him....

Karmen, I'm so sorry to hear that Dante passed away. He lived a full & happy life with you & shared that with you until the end. In that respect he was a lucky boy that he found you & you him. Remember the wonderful times that you shared & focus on that.....he will meet you at the bridge. He will be a part of you & with you always. My thoughts are with you.

Doodle's loss is felt here as well He was a member of our extended family.(his grandma was our old dog Rixi, as Karmen mentioned above) He was a true ambassador for the German Shepherd Dog, always kind and gentle with children but could be a tough guy when the situation was warranted.
I have a lot of memories of Dante and feel fortunate to have known him from birth. He was a sucker of sweaters and enemy of evil shoes and unruly couches. LOL He had a little to be desired as a hotel roommate back then, huh Karmen?? (unless you ask Carla  )
He was one of a kind, and a very special dog.
