You may have heard about the herd of horses that were trapped for 3 days
on a tiny piece of land in wind and rain in the Netherlands a short while
ago. They were trapped on a small piece of land, surrounded by water.
Their natural instincts kept them from swimming to solid land, from their
tiny perch. There were about 100 horses huddled together against the wind
and water. The Nation was mesmerized watching this drama as 18 of the
horses perished, while others were slowly weakening. First the fire
department, then the Dutch army, tried to rescue them - both efforts were
unsuccessful. Then, with a break in the weather, the water level went down
and four women hatched a plan to attempt a rescue by luring the horses into
the water. Here's a video of the successful rescue. I was very touched
as I watched the video of these magnificent animals being saved. I hope
you enjoy this uplifting video

Cool Video. I'm a huge horse lover, but after working at an equine surgery clinic for a year and a half and seeing stories like this...sometimes they just aint the brightest.
Hey, Ed, I just sent that linc to Cindy today. Don't know if that is where you got it or not...but, being a horsewoman & knowing how horses think & knowing how I would feel if that were one of my horses on that island....it made me want to cry & then stand up & cheer !!! but...It is really interesting that it seems to take a woman (women) to find the solution to many of life's problems even when they seem to be pretty obvious. Women, the 'weaker of the sexes' :-) (only physically !!!!)
Great video. I'm another horse lover and have to agree that horses are not the brightest of God's creatures. If they were smarter, they'd have known that they could swim across (at least once the water stopped being a flood torrent).
Thanks Ed, for the link it was a great ending to a sad story,
put a lump in my throat...I am totally nuts about horses my husband and I both ride whenever we can.My son also seems to be a natural in the saddle.
Thank you Ed, immensely enjoyed - incredible music. Horses are my passion although I've never been fortunate enough to own one. They are one of God's most noble and magnificient creations.
As to the comments of them being dumb - sorry, that kind of gets my goat. They are what they're supposed to be. If they were any smarter, this country would not be what it is today, much less the world. They deserve our thanks and respect, unlike really dumb people in the world who follow every little wind that blows their way. JMO.
