I am new to the sport of Schutzhund (don't even have a dog yet). Joining a club relatively close to me to get more acquainted with the sport's time, money and training requirements.
I am looking for a working line GSD or Malinois for obedience/Schutzhund work. I have never owned a working line dog with a potentially high drive before; so as I have stated earlier, I don't plan on buying immediately. I want to get a better knowledge of the sport before I commit to a working line dog, so I can commit the time required to be successful. Not to mention I want to give the dog something to do and not be bored and turn his/her energy into destructive behavior.
Just need a little help with reputable breders of Working Line GSD or Mal's??
Thanks for any info

Oh, I am also looking to get a little more information on if it is better to get a puppy,or if It would be ok to get an older puppy, say 9-12 months old? OR would it be more beneficial to get an 8-10 week old??
Thanks again

If you are new to the sport and the training needed I feel it better to go with an older dog that someone else that knows what thet are doing for bite imprinting etc. you better be willing to pay if you do go this rout. Good luck.

Jason just emailed me that the litter was whelped - now he needs to catch up on his sleep.
Lord Forbid, ol' Fetz has reproduced, and with a nice Leerburg female to boot....the poor future owners, lol!

pedagree Belshek is very good for GSD, also jim reed at germanshepherddog true haus has very good ddr lines there male tommy was tops, made it to the world in 05. regardless of breed you have to do it all right to get a winner. bad training with a great dog is worthless and great training with an ok dog is good. if you can get a great dog with great training you will be a Jim Lempner with mikey WDA world team. P.S. I am a GSD fan Good Luck

Adam, first, hats off to you for doing your homework prior to jumping in to SchH. I'm in the same boat as you, attending training without a dog!!!
Hopefully, I will be one of the "poor future owners" of one of the Fetz/Spy litter that was posted in this thread from von Sidener Kennel. Now that the pups are here, will be looking at temperment, etc for a "perfect" match So, those pups are here and like was said, you could contact Jason. He is very knowledgable.
The other thing that came to mind, due to the fact that you are out in NY, is contacting (if you havent already) http://www.k9nation1.com/ it appears he is pretty close to you. Francesco, IMO, has made excellent posts here regarding training, and may have information and insight about which direction to go, given your circumstances. Based on the information he's provided here on the board, I can honestly say, I wish his training facility was closer to me!!!
PS. GSD.

HOW COULD YOU.. hope you have insurance LOL
I was thinking about not even breeding my dog. I was wandering if you have civil as can be, biting on a suit since 12 mos old very hard, dream to handle I call it "A Hole" how do you go about females? I know he migh not reproduce himself but if he does I will have a lot of returned dogs due to: r u crazy woman?
Will PM me please I do not want to just take over this thread. My dog is not a begginer dog and I do not want to have some civil dogs running out there, with my dog's name on pedigree. I need to talk abou this with somebody who has pretty lovely dog that will "rape" handler/helper any given chance.
