In November, I bred my Elgos daughter Aera van Joefarm to a very exciting young dog named Jackson du Loup du Soleil FR 3.
Pregnancy was recently confirmed, so we are counting down the days til January 7th.
You can see photos of Jackson and Aera on my website.

Like I told you via e-mail, Cindy- this should be quite the litter! Congrats.
Out of curiosity- what traits from Jackson are you hoping to get in these puppies?

Aera and Jackson have many similarities that I hope to amplify. Of course, anyone who has been breeding dogs for a while knows that it's as much art as science.
Aera has lots of play drive, obsessive gripping and is a bit sharp.
Jackson is a big gripper, but not a lot of play drive. He's a gorgeous dog, with a wonderful work ethic and high trainability.
they are both very athletic and have nice pigment.
Hope to get more of the same!
Mike Ellis and I have talked about this breeding for the last 9 or 10 months and thought they would complement each other nicely.

I have already admired the Mals on your website. I am starting to really fall for the Malinois breed. They are just such beautiful and driven dogs!!!!! Good luck with this breeding, and if they are born on Jan 7th, they will share my youngest daughters birthday

The time has flown by and Aera is whelping today... Not sure if she is done yet or not but the head count so far is TWO males, EIGHT females.
**edited to add the correct number and sex*** Note to self, don't trust your ability to count and distinguish between a male and female puppy at 3 AM
they are all big strong and healthy pups, the last one (no kidding) shot out and slid across the whelping box! If you have ever been present at a birth, I can tell you that you won't see that very often. I have whelped LOTS of litters and this was a first for me.
Leave it to a Malinois. haha

You mentioned Aera is a little sharp, what about the male? What kind of pups are you expecting in terms of sociability, hardness and sharpness?

That is a dog whose life progress I'd like to follow. Entering the world with a big "Woo-hoo! I'm here!" sounds like a promising start.

We will have to see what the combo produces. Aera is super stable, and a rather hard female, but sharp and territorial. She's very self confident, environmentally stable, social with kids, dogs and pupppies and 'sensible' dog savvy folks. In other words, if a person has weak nerves, Aera will let you know about it. (I like that about her, personally) She has the obsessive Belgian grip, just like her dad. No matter what she bites, she is always driving in to the tonsils.
She is always carrying something, whether it's a toy or Ed's life size deer decoy (true story, sore subject )
I spent 3 days around Jack during the breeding and have watched him train numerous times. He is social with dogs, puppies and people but he's not a schmooze. He's indifferent,, unless he's biting you. LOL He is a serious dog, BIG gripper, hard and tough. This dog can take a lot of prolonged pressure in training and not lose drive. He's good looking and athletic. I like him a lot!!
Like I posted above, I hope to get a nice combo of both parents.

Haha--that's funny! But I am not so sure it wasn't Aera pushing for all she was worth! That pup was number ten and I think she's had enough already. LOL
