I hate saying this but I bet if Peta had offered money to use that childs face for the ad it would have a different out come.I notice that the parents are in jail for 3 years .What's the whole story?
I don't care for Peta at all so I could care less if they win this or not but it seems to me that we are missing something.
PETA should be out of line if they didn't get the permission of a parent or guardian. It doesn't seem right for them to exploit the tragedy and use it as a springboard for breed bashing or any of their other causes.
I was going to say PETA people have way too much time on their hands. Then I realized it's all about greed and fear. PETA's greed and the public's fear.
i'm interested - far too lazy to look, but interested nontheless - if someone can point to the study they're using that claims dogs are more agressive on chains.
i wouldn't put it past PETA to just make shit up, but yeah...
What peeves me is that peta's exploiting the family for their own ends & didn't even have the decency to ask the parents' permission (even though they're in jail).

I believe a dog that is chained daily with no healthy stimulation and socialization is a dangerous dog over time.Once he is cut loose all that frustration and energy pinned up will go out in rage/aggression.And I think certain breeds of dogs are good candidates for that behavior.
I also want to know in details why they are in jail for 3 years exactly. Usually you have a history of neglect behind it.I don't think if you educate others by showing a victims photo it's a bad thing, sometimes that's what it takes.Hopefully with their consent. As for Peta, they are bunch of hypocrites.
By the way if you read that story in more detail, that child was abused all his life by his parents and the parents knew those dogs were dangerous. In my opinion and I'm sure of others , they should hang for it not 3 years in jail.
Those parents don't deserve any respect from any one including peta.
i occasionally tethered my dogs up outside while doing something, but it was never for too long (they're in-tact, and if they happen to be in heat, which i'm not educated enough to tell, i can get a fat ticket for that in this town). i've been having pretty good luck getting them to respect me under distraction, so we've been dabbling in going outside off-leash.
none of those links seemed to spell it out, are they only talking about major portions of the day tethered being bad - or can an hour or two on a line bug a dog sufficiently to cause behavioural issues?
