So today was "bring your dog to work day" (well, only for me! heh). I was nervous as first, because there's a lot of stuff lying around in the office (I work in IT) and he's a curious-about-everything kind of dog. Well, he's sleeping under my desk and nothing could wake him up!
The only negative thing that happened was on the way to work, we had to take the subway and I could tell he was feeling a little nauseous - he used to get car sick. He managed, though, once he figured out that it's easier if he lays down.
Do any of you guys bring your dog to work? I'm hooked.
I've never taken my dog to work but how did you get him to stop being car sick? My dog seems to get sick every road trip we take, never fails. Do they grow out of it? My dog is only 6 mo. old.
Mine used to throw up in my car every morning when I'd pick him up from my boyfriend's and bring him to my house. He used to do it in my cupholders, which everyone found amusing. It would've been a bigger problem if he vomited all over the interior...but for some reason, he chose the cupholders each and every time. I tried experimenting with feeding him vs. not feeding him before the ride, but he actually appeared to fear worse on an empty stomach. He outgrew this by about 5-6mos, so don't lose hope yet. Also, the more frequent and shorter the trips, the better he seemed to do. He's three now and has been all over the country with me w/no issues.
What *I* would like to know is how did you convince your boss/facility manager to let you bring your dog to work. I would LOVE to do that (I have separation anxiety - the dog doesn't)
Angela, you wouldn't believe how the bringing the dog to work thing started. My boss ASKED me to bring him! I thought for sure he'd change his mind when I told him how big Digger is (90 lbs), but he said it didn't matter as long as he's housebroken. I was hesitant to bring him because he's had trouble with separation anxiety in the past, and often I have to go out and help people - I obviously couldn't take him along for that. He's been wonderful, though. He's made friends with a friend in the office and is glued to his side when I'm out.
Yup, all the time. I work as a live in nanny, and that was the deal maker when they asked me to work full time last year. I would have felt very gulity leaving her with my family all the time - and I would have missed her and vice versa!
I now work 4 days a week and have two dogs. So I've been going home after 2 days to switch dogs.
Wow, I work in IT as well and I'd never be able to bring Sheba in. I think it would be great, but it'll never happen. My wife is upset enough that i have 4 picture hanging of my dog and only one of us. Being able to bring her into work might trigger a divorce All i can do is stare at her pics...(Sheba's) *SIGH*
