Any good search engines to come up with a name for a new male pup? We were wanting to name him something of German origin considering he is coming here from Germany, then again we were thinking about something American since he is going to be an American citizen now. Some names are just too overdone. I want something unique and different. Anyone here speak German? lol
It's more about meaning to me. Like Schatz...meaning "little treasure". Know what I mean? I want a word that means strong, royal, proud I don't know something solid something powerful.
but not too hard to say either. Remember we are working with American tongues here, lol. Some words just don't roll off of our mouths as easily as for someone who grew up speaking the language and I would rather not go more than two syllables.

Try this:
1. the first three letters of your last name.
2. the last two letters of your first name.
3. the first two letters of your mothers maiden name
4. the first three letters of the city you were born in
My Malis name is Bocca Jesea. We call it her JEDI name :-)
It is pretty fun to see how it works out. Sometimes they are okay and sometimes they make no sense but the key is to have fun with.

Google "German dog names meaning" That should give you some ideas. I have a 5 mos. Malinois/Dobermann bitch named Britta, which means "strength" in German.
My first GSD pup was named "Coach" bcs I am a P.E. Teacher as well as an ex-football, weightlifting and track Coach, and every coach I have ever known was an S.O.B. at some time during practice. My first GSD was part of the "K" litter and so we spelled his name Koach which I came to discover means energy in Hebrew. Unfortunately he developed EPI and a grade 3 heart murmur and we made the difficult decision to put him to rest. When the breeder replaced him the new GSD pup was out of the "S" litter and so he was named after my alma maters mascot SEMINOLE. We decided to honor the first pup by giving SEMINOLE the call name of Coach. I simply added the Kennels name into the puppies names for their official name.
Hope this helps
