Now, I really goofed. While I’m not at home, I usually close the curtains so the dog can’t see the squirrels, meter man etc. Well, I forgot to pull the curtains and when I came home, I have lovely, deep scratches in my beautiful Pella wooden windowsills. In other words, they’re trashed—
Help! Does anyone have a suggestion as to how I correct this problem so I don't have to keep the curtains closed?
I had a somewhat similar problem w/my GSD. Only she has mangled the blinds beyond repair in my living room. She is crate trained and goes there now, instead of having free roam of my home.
Other than crating, you could always use an eCollar, or rig up some fancy citronella sprayer that is motion activated ... or put up spike strips along the windowsill (just kidding), but I think there are those static electricity pads that people put on couches for the same effect you could try to rig something like that up. But really the easiest thing is probably a crate.
We put in wood shutters , I was tired of replacing blinds.I like my dogs loose in the house I see no purpose for them in a crate if someone wants to break in .But if that is of no concerns for you a crate is the only thing unless you want to put wood shutters.I have a gigantic doggie door so they can go in and out as well.Maybe you should allow access to outdoor and in.Just a an idea.. http://s141.photobucket.com/albums/r77/cadogancna/
I know this is no help, but I couldn't help but be amazed that the CURTAINS worked; mine are constantly moving the curtains back to see out front. Just found it amusing. I must also say that I repaint my bay windowsill every few months...
