I hear people talking about dogs such as Fero and Troll. Could you please tell me some of the best dogs you want to have in your German working-line GSD's pedigree and why?
Are these dogs that have won many Schutzhund championships or have managed to pass their traits on well or is there something else?
I think, for the most part it's peoples opinion and preferences.I for instance love dogs out of Mink vom haus wettfeld http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/gsd/pedigree/302.html
I have a male out of Mink, the dam was a grand daughter out of Mink.I like what Mink had produced , civil, fast to mature, hard dogs. But that's what I prefer and that's my opinion, you might hear that someone else does not like Mink progenies at all.So it's really what people have and like and what they see as a great working dog. I like alot of others but too long of a list, But I thought I would tell you about the "working line " I like and know

Thanks for taking the time to respond. Angelique, Mink was one of the dogs I've heard of and I can see why you like him.
John, could you tell me specifically what's nice about Pike? What is he known for?
My other question is that if many of the dogs have the same titles, what makes them better than the others with the same title? (Assuming the titles are issued fairly)
That goes for a lot of dogs that are line bred too closely and too much.Mine only had Mink on the mother side not on the father side at all.My dog is not nervey one bit, he is a very confident dog.Very stable. But I can see what you mean .
Dogs I have seen out of Pike have the bounce in the front legs when they bark in the blind and their barks are very steady and fast, lots of energy and good fight drives.
Yes I have seen a few good Mink dogs, but an equal amount of crappy ones, I know the Mink lines in particular have the reputation to produce nervey litters if you breed dogs that don't "mesh" well genetically. Not a dig on your Mink dog at all, like I said, seen a few good ones, seen a few bad ones
