I spent some time this weekend watching the 9/11 programs. I've seen most of them before but it seems necessary and right to take a break from my life and focus on the enormity and horror of that day.
To reflect on the overwhelming loss of that day, and the loss of whatever innocence we Americans had.
To remember that unimaginable evil was met with countless examples, both great and small, of heroism and humanity.
To remind myself to never forget why we continue to fight and to remember all the men and women who work so hard to ensure another 9/11 doesn't happen again.
Rick, it's ok to post a remembrance. That's my personal feeling. I'm not a moderator. Sometimes the forum goes in some other directions - we're reminded if we go too far.

It sure is, and it is not forgot over this side of the ocean, God bless, those that perished and the families they left behind and we hope this evil will be bought to justice before too long
Let us not forget the dogs that also died in 9/11. There were dogs in the towers that worked there for the Port Authority.
The SAR dogs called out to the towers were also a very important part of the recovery process both as search dogs and as therapy dogs for the workers. Many of those dogs got sick or died from exposure to hazardous chemicals at the towers.
There is a beautiful memorial to the dogs of 9/11 at the Museum of the Dog in St. Louis if you ever get a chance to get there. I was very moved.

I absolutely agree with Kelly.
A friend of mine, Sarah Atlas, who I think is a member here, was at 9/11 for quite awhile and she lost her dog due to illnesses stemming from there.
She is in the Dog Heroes of 9/11 book that was published a couple years ago.
This event still tugs my heartstrings today.......
