I just got a 4 month old Cane Corso that is going to be my house dog. When i let her outside she usually doesnt like to stay long and will jump on the doors and window try and get back in. but when i approach she sits all nice for me to let her in. I'm ordering some of Eds videos but was wondering what people think the best way to stop her from doing this.. When i'm outside she is right by my side but if i let her out by herself she wants in.. She still isnt potty trained, but sometimes i think her accidents are because she is so excited to see me. My Akita used to do that when she was young but grew out of the excitment peeing. so any advice would be greatly appriciated... thnaks
I was once told to put my dog on her leash and take her outside. When you come up to the door, if she jumps up tug sharply on the leash (it works best if you have a choke or pinch collar) and firmly say "NO!" Practice this over and over on a daily basis until the jumping stops. Hope that helps!
This isn't exactly answering your question, but you should be going out there with her to teach her the word for going potty and praising her for it. You staying inside and leaving her out there may seem like a punishment to her. It will probably take longer for her to be housetrained because she is too worried about why you left her outside instead of going potty. My pup used to jump on the door right in front of me while we stood outside by the back door a quick correction did the trick and now she no longer tries to break into the house.
Yea i normaly do go out with her and praise her for going potty outside but i sometime do let her go out and play with my other dogs.. And sometime she stays out for a while playing but the min she wants in she jumps on the door.. But when i'm with her she sits there really nice and waits for me to go in and call her. Or when i go to the door when she is jumping she sits down right away. I guess i just have to be sneaky and catch her and do a correction. I just ordered the 8weeks video so maybe it will have some insite on this problem.. For now i'll just go out with her everytime..
