My husband is allergic to long hair dogs, but we wanted a big working dog. So we got ourselves a doberman. We both fell in love with him but unfotunately we had to take him back to the breeder because of some serious complications. I have been broken hearted for 4 months now and I feel I've found the breed I connect with. It's the same feeling with my husband. I am VERY weary now of all doberman breeders. We were horribly deceived. We want another doberman, but we know no one who breeds. If anyone who knows any reputable breeders, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
I understand how disappointing it can be trying to find the right dog. It is also very hard to replace a dog that you have fallen in love with. People seem to look for the same qualities they fell in love with in another dog, but, unfortuneately, no two dogs are alike.
As for dobie breeders, I cannot reccomend any offhand. However, I would suggest you use the forums search engine to find similiar threads on this website. Also, this discussion forum has a section specically on Dobermans. Look for it in the forum list. There is a wealth of information to research on this forum and I suggest you take advantage of it. You can trust most breeders found here or any that they refer.
Kassondra,
Please don't post the same post in different areas of the forum, that's considered spamming and results in the multiple posts being deleted, which we don't like having to do as Mod's, ok?
Also while I'm at it - Sidney Washington III of Only kennel in Alabama has bred some nice dobes that I've seen work first hand.
Feel free to PM me and I'll give you his phone number and email, if you'd like.
( I never post phone numbers or emails in plain sight on forums due to the spam problem, hence the PM useage )
I've seen some nice dobes coming from Cara Kennels - Ray Carlisle - I think he is in New England somewhere. Or New York. Or maybe NJ (obviously I don't know where he is but somewhere up there). Also an old friend of mine Tammy Marshall-Weldon - Swift Run Dobes - her foundation lines are imports from Holland - I don't know what she's doing nowadays but her Dobes used to be quite nice, and very good in the work. She is in Bowling Green KY.
If you do a search there have been several inqueries for dobie breeders on the forum. One of the members, Tammy Dempsey, and her hubby Ron breed them. I first got into all "this dog stuff" with them. They are excellent people and their dog's are awesome!
