When I bought my female ,I was told by her owner/breeder/handler that she would not do well with small dogs not to ever let her sniff small dogs ect...Beware of small dogs with her..
Well here she is with our small dog. She has never showed aggression towards any dogs , and most definetely not with small dogs. I think that with dogs can be changed for the better with better handlers.I really can't see that she was agressive with small dogs to begin with, maybe just a fear HE had, but not one that was really there with this dog.Have ever had a dog that is totally different from what you were told about the dog?
Enjoy the pic, i think it's sweet..
Yup. The man I got my Border Collie from said she had shut down when working sheep and may never work again. She was 3 y/o at the time. Not only has she never shut down when working for me, she's got alot of guts when it comes to handling sheep. She is willing to try just about anything to get the job done. My sheep have learned that you-don't-mess-with-Missy (she has TEETH, and is not afraid to use them if called for...)
Really makes me wonder WHY she wouldn't work for him...
people get into bad relationships all the time, why wouldn't a dog and handler/owner be any different. I got one that went thru two owners who are experienced trainers but they couldn't get that bond going, I got her now and she's great.

Could a bad handler/dog relationship be salvagable(sp?)

Michael,
Are you referring to a dog going to a new handler, or, do you mean a handler and dog that are not doing well turning it around and being good together?
Until The Tale of the Lioness is told, the Story will Always Glorfy the Hunter

A handler and dog that are not doing well turning it around. I see what ya'll are saying and agree 100%. I was just wondering that if in the handler/dog duo's that you mentioned if the handler would have changed(technique, attitude, anything) if it would have worked.
