sheila m ryan Webboard User Reg: 01-30-2007 Posts: 12 Loc: Offline	Hi, My two year old shepherd has slept at the foot of my bed the past two years. The last month he he has seemed to become restless in my room and has preferred to sleep in the hallway near the front door entrance. Approximately 30 feet from my room. He stays there through out the night and is obedient and well behaved in the house. When I am in the home in the morning and evening he is in the house usually very close by me, during the day he is outside.There has been no changes in my room or livng situation to cause this change. Perhaps he sees this spot as more of an on guard protective spot? Curious to hear others opinions.Where does your dog(s) sleep and why? Thanks in advance.

I have a dog that sleeps on the bed when I forgot to bring his bed into the bedroom (shhh, don't tell anyone else), and he moves into the hallway when it's too hot. For some reason my room is hotter than the rest of the house, so, he leaves when he's had enough. Anyway, maybe a temperature thing?

I crawl in, they are at a sit by the bed, I give the "HOP" command and turn out the light. saved quite a bit on heat this year . Disgusting I know but I ain't dating anymore so I don't care.

My boyfriend didn't mind the dogs in the bed, until I announced that another one is coming home. Let's see...double bed, two 90 lb dogs and one 20 pounder that likes to sleep in between people's legs... I bought dog beds.

Now, the Dutch sleeps on a big pillow bed at the foot of the bed but as soon as hubby walks out the door to go to work he gets in bed with me......SHHHHHH don't tell. As soon as he thought I was asleep he would jump off the bed & go to sleep on the floor. He was never a "cuddly" kind of a dog. Now my new gsd (Arkane) is a total snuggler, & even likes to sleep between the sheets!!!

That dog of mine wasn't snuggly either. Now MoJo did sleep with me early on in his puppy days, and my foster GSD and that godforsaken hybrid, but as my man and I merged homes, well, the 3 dog nights were out the window. I've grown, over the years, to be more like him...dogs on their own bed.. Now, for the cat...different story, does not apply. To the OP--I think it's could be a temp thing too, or if the dog was literally on the bed at the foot of your bed, is it maybe a getting up and down off the bed issue? Have you noticed any change with jumping up into the vehicle?

Diane Joslin Webboard User Reg: 01-09-2007 Posts: 368 Loc: Las Vegas, NV Offline	From the first day we got him at 8 weeks old, Nickie has been taught to sleep in his crate which is in our dining room - the dog that we had before Nickie always slept in our bed (in the middle) with his head on his own pillow! In the summertime if Buster got too hot, he would go in the front room and sleep on the couch. (He was a pitbull and a very gentle, well behaved dog).
