It's a nice story and a wonderful break from all the nasty abuse and neglect ones we've been hearing about lately...
I was just happy that no one shot this dog because it was loose.
Sounds like he'll make a sweet and loving pet to someone; all this attention is bound to get him adopted. That's reason enough to report stories like this in my opinion!
Article doesn't say she was dragged by her shirt collar back to the highway. It said it pulled on her shirt collar then "dragged" her.
If we apply the everyday doggy mechanics with which we're all aware, it's more like:
-If the dog actually used it's mouth on her (doubtful) it wasn't to any practical affect
-She got to her own feet and grabbed the dogs collar
-Being the feral, dominant dog it is, the dog basically pulled her like it would with anyboy who had it on lead or in grasp...going in whatever general direction she decided to go, but charging ahead.
To Earth Dog and Steven, the GSD didn't belong to the woman whom he saved. He just happened to come along. He was in the right place at the right time, heard the crash and went to see. I heard another story where a dog did drag his owner up the bank of a river (or lake?) out of the water by his shirt.
He IS a hero! I know you guys might be funning, but credit where credit is due
It's funny, when I read the article in the paper, I thought "wow, the dog was used as an instrument of God" my thoughts had absolutely ZERO to do with the dog. I guess we'll never know, but what happened was SO FAR out of the dog's biological evolutionary capabilities of reason that I just didn't think it was ALL the dog, if ya know what I mean.
A dog protecting it's owner is one thing... This is a miracle, right up there with babies that are thrown off overpasses and don't die. And that ISN'T because those babies just landed better.
