Has anyone else noticed that the images on tee shirts, hats embroidered emblems, mugs, jewelry and even Christmas Tree orniments that depict German Shepherd Dogs are almost always of the American Show Line variety (sloped back, long hair, heavy, etc.)?
I am a proud owner of a healthy 7 year old working line female German Shepherd Dog, meaning 68 pounds of health, drive and mental soundness - and no sloped back! The problem is that my dear wife LOVES receiving GSD related gifts, especially apparel, and it is difficult to find generic images of working line GSDs.
I have done quite a few things with digital photos of our GSD, and will continue to do so, but I'm looking for someplace that sells clothing items, not associtated with any particular organization, bearing the image of a Working Line GSD. Any ideas out there? Thanks!
Sounds like a great Idea. You can take a digital pic into almost any embroidery shop and the can put it onto nearly anything. Set up a web store... send samples to Ed and you could have a nice little side business
if you don't mind spending quite a bit of money, you can do this sort of thing yourself on a one-off basis at places like spreadshirt and cafepress.. coffee mugs, t-shirts, mouse pads, you name it.
but even just to buy the stuff yourself, without tacking on profit to flog them off to others, both those sites are kinda expensive.
I've never checked into the costs involved but you could set up stores on Yahoo and/or E-Bay. I'll bet you could make some extra money especially if you have a website that could be linked to your stores. Your customers would primarily be people with working line GSDs and those who remember GSDs from the past before the top lines got so slopped.
