has any one done business with this person?
he quoted my friend a price to use his stud dog (Irbe, not even titled)that is so outrages, that top national champions and VA dogs don't get this type of money.
he told her if she spoke of his kennel again he would sue her for slander.
she is searching for a czech or ddr dog to use in about 8 mths to mate to,but something close by. NY (long island)
Does anyone know of anyone who doesn't ask 1,800.00 dollars for a stud fee.. LOL I really want a pup out of her female. Tom
Just because it is not titled does not mean it is not a good dog, you'd have to look at the pedigree and see the dog in person, his heath history, ect...I know a great dog with no titles that has ofa numbers , great temperament, comes from great dogs, has never has an health issue or faults. And he is neutered. He would have been a stud I would have picked.$ 1800 is a bit much but I would have to look at the dog and also see what he has produced. Is your friends female titled? what is the purpose of the breeding?
i agree there are great PROVEN DOGS that aren't titled. you can honestly tell me that you would pay 1,800.00 dollars to breed your dog to an unproven, never bred before dog!
why aren't the VA dogs and world schutzhund champion dog owners not asking this much money for a breeding?? cause they know it's ridiculous, there is an equal or better dog not far away asking, the normal 650-800.
and a litter is a crap shoot
no my friends dog isn't titled doesn't make her a bad dog right ))
she is in training for a PSA title
$1800 for a stud fee.
Cripes, I charged less than a third of that for stud fees ( but I'm *very* selective to whom I allow Fetz to breed to, for obvious reasons ).
Of course in the Showlines world, an $1800 stud fee would probably be considered cheap.
We Working Lines folks are doing something wrong, lol.
Tom
I never said 1800 is what I would ever consider paying for a stud fee, but Quanto Jipo me is $1500 for sutd fee .So my guess is that some studs are that expensive.
Would I ever consider paying that fee all depends. The reason why I am asking if your female (friends) is titled is because I ahve heard that some breeders that stud out their dogs will ask more money on a female that is untitled as supposed to one that is , they rather breed to titled females.
I think you have plenty of studs out there, no need to bash this breeder for his price of stud fee.Good luck
Also why DDR or Czech?
angelique, quanto is titled 25 times!
i am not bashing anyone.
he told her that is how much a puppy goes for,so that is how much a stud fee goes for.
why east german because that is what her dog is.and she has found a V rated kkl-1 east german dog.. stud fee 850...
no need to say anymore
Complaining about stud fees is nothing new. The owner of the stud can ask whatever he/she wants. I personally wouldn't go higher than 1500. I have several friends in the dog business that offer their dogs for stud. They have proven males that have produced working police k9's and top sport (National and World level sch) with multiple females and their stud fees range from 800 to 1500. If a stud fee is higher than 1500 dollars I'd go the AI route with a proven stud.
I agree Tracy, I think a stud fee is whatever the breeder wants if you don't want to pay for it, move on. Can't say I would pay 1800 for a non titled dog but than again, I have seen titled dogs like Quanto that is an all prey drive dog, not a whole lot of hard drives in that dog , yet he is $1500 for stud fee.I think it all depends on what you want, and I also have more respect for people that are picky about the females they breed their stud too.Too many weak females are being bred to nice studs...Also not enough people look and match pedigree to the mate they are looking for.We took a whole day to discuss my females'pedigree with the stud's pedigree we picked out(from our club)and looked back far into both pedigrees and health history.
my female is a hard female and I wanted a male that would match her well. Not enough people do their research, all they ask is the price of the stud , I don't search for price ,I search for the ultimate working abilities first. That's why I respect jason and Wills' breeding they spend the time to make sure it is a great breeding on every scale.
