just wanted to share...
our new pup, Kane vdH Maul, a Stormfront's Brawnson & Elsa z Pohranicni straze pup, is finally here and it's time to get started! He gets his first look at SchH club tonite and we've already been doing a little "puppy bite work".
Congrats!!
Soak in the cuteness as much as possible now! It so amazing how quick the little bundles of fur grow. One minute your getting the first sit drop with it next to the couch next minute your doing full work training and cute goes out the window!! (well the fluffy, fit in your hand cute anyway)!!

Thanks, we're very proud to add him to our home, but I don't think even with my big hands that I could fit him in them...LOL He's a stocky lil guy at 12wks, 23lbs, and very thick bones.

My new pup (Dallas) out of Valco Vom-Leerburg & Zalinde Vom Leerburg ; came home a week ago today. I'm amazed at how easily this now 8 week old pup has adapted to her new surroundings although the first night was spent with "us" sleeping on the couch. She has since adapted to her crate. My concern is channeling her aggresive nature without causing harm to her drive and fearlessness. This little girl is afraid of nothing and seeks out what ever it is that confronts her. Luckily..she has a young border collie companion who allows the pup to use her as a chew toy and prey object. However; I'm not thrilled with the pup "attacking" my head as I lay on the couch or the floor. It is my desire to train this pup for personal protection and/or search & rescue. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
This "attacking" is just prey behavior. If this is undesirable behavior then set the rules now. Correct by grabbing her by the scruff of the neck and shaking then give her a prey toy to bite on and when she does praise like she just cured cancer. If this occurs more than 2 or 3 times you are not shaking hard enough. Set the rules early and be consistent!

2 or 3 times, I wish...LOL
our Kane is one of those hard dogs that you could shake him half to death, will still come back for more. We do "bait & switch" with him to get him to stop biting things we don't want him to. The old "muzzle pinch" doesn't work with him either, the harder you pinch down, the harder he bites down. I'm almost afraid I'd have to hurt him to make him release that way.
he's 12wks old. our other puppy-hood we went through with Femke (bitch out of Boomer Emsbogen/Afra Baumberg daughter and Ico Ardhaus son) was easy to correct and redirect. This little guy is a different story, once he's got something in his mouth, he won't release until he's "baited" with something else that arouses his prey drive, then we "switch".
Sounds like you have one hell of a pup! I think I could come up with a few people hear who would't mind that at all!LOL
