Who owns Gunner? Is it your dog Brent? I have a female GSD that has Leerburgs Natan in the line, he's her great great grandfather. But her mother has primarily the show GSD's on her side(just like this dog), otherwise she'd make an excellent Schutz dog(she doesn't have the nerves for it, *shrug* I can live with a great dog that isn't Sch titled).

I don't know any of the Leerburg dogs myself. Ed Frawley will know the most about Natan I'm sure. I have worked quite a few Mink dogs, they can be hit or miss. Too much linebreeding on Mink tends to produce nervey dogs from what I'm told and have seen for myself, but my potential upcoming GSD pup will have some Mink in him, good lines if bred properly.

I don't understand why this breeding took place, unless someone thought they were going to improve on the top half of this pedigree. I'm not saying this dog isn't great, I don't know, it's just I am trying to understand the reason for this breeding.

I think the that in some way the same could be said about my GSD's pedigree also. 1/2 working 1/2 show lines-great dog, pretty good nerves, but not solid nerves. great ball drive and focus, but so-so grip. *shrugs* great companion-gonna try agility with her.

Brent...Look around on the Leerburg site. There are testimonials from owners who have dogs from the dogs in your posted pedigree. There is also a very long list of all the Leerburg dogs...active and retired...and I believe you can click on some of the names to learn more about them.
