This is bad enough, but remember the little figurines that were being sold. Little furry dog/cat figurines, that were actually covered in dog/cat hide complete with fur?
How do they get away with labeling something as "Fake" fur, but using real skin and hair. Is it fake because it isn't mink? disgusting.

I remember those figurines, we had an uproar here in Vegas and California .You could find in the indoor/outdoor swapmeet little pet figurines with fur looking things that came from China(i believe)that were actually real dog & cat fur
I cannot believe that when people SIMPLY want FAKE fur they manage to still sell coats with real fur on "fake labels".Is synthetic that hard to produce?? I mean if I want fake,I WANT FAKE. What is so hard about that? I have always been against real fur coats & anyhting else that has real fur on it, and I wouldn't take one if it was given to me, we are so against that kind of cruelty

for the record, i wouldn't really have a problem with fur if it were a human industry. i know what goes on in the development of fur products, and that's why i can't support it.
as far as my own tastes go, i don't think anything screams "tacky" or "trashy" like a fur on an outfit, and if you know how your fur is made (particularly the people who willingly buy real fur products) and still wear it, i think it speaks volumes about your personality.
angelique: i imagine that in places like china - if their dogs have a problem with overpopulation too - that snatching up dogs and skinning them is more economic than trying to manufacture synthetic from scratch.

Sigh... I'm devastated now because my favourite leather jacket has fur trim. I never had a problem with the leather, because cows are used for FOOD so I figured the leather was just the unwasted hide... It never crossed my mind to think that the fur was in any way different. It just never crossed my mind that any society would raise an animal in such horrid conditions, then slaughter them in such a HORRID maner, and JUST for their pelts.
I'm a horrible person. I'm going to hell.

Well they do what they need to do , but let's not say that that's the best way nor hiding it from the buyers is a good thing
I'm against products that hide the truth about what they have in/or made of for the simple reason of making a buck, let the buyers make their own decision about what they want to spend their money on.That goes for commercial pet foods.Hey if I wanted to feed my dog, dog food that has meat from dead dogs and cats, let me make that decision ,if I want my children to play with toys that are made of dog & cat hide let me make that decision Not the manufacturers. That's where most problems are with the manufacturers, makers, sellers ect.., not really what's in it.

in any slaughterhouse i've ever been to, the cows are dead before the skin comes off (this goes for things like suede too). like i said in my previous post, i wouldn't have a problem with the fur industry if it were a humane one. the fact is that partially skinning an animal then killing it (or in the case of seals, clubbing) just so you don't put a hole in the skin is complete bullshit.
no one's ever satisfactorily explained to me what damage - if any - carbon dioxide does to pelts, and why fur manufacturers can't euthanize with co2 prior to skinning. it is - as far as i know - much like going to sleep when performed correctly, and it's the method i used to put a couple of my rats out of their misery.
co2 is also cheap as far as i know, bulk prices of co2 are very negligible, especially considering the amount you'd be going through in a decent sized fur factory. i just don't understand why the **** they can't do it!
I'm a horrible person. I'm going to hell.
i wouldn't beat yourself up over it too bad. like most of us here who realise in one way or another we've wronged previous pets, what's important is that you commit to change - same goes with fur.

It's the fact that they were still ALIVE that bothered me so much. I eat meat. I wear leather (because yes, it's dead when it's skinned) and I feed my dogs meat. But this skinning ALIVE, and that video... My God. What a twisted society.
