Duramune Puppy shot (parvo) at 4-6-8 weeks.
Dewormed with Strongid T at 4-6-8 weeks.
I'm fully aware of the over vac problem, so what other shots will he need after I bring him home?
Thanks, Art
Art.. if your breeder gave parvo shots starting at 4 weeks of age... whew!! I don't give my first vaccine till 9 weeks... mom's immunity is kicked in till then.. all those vaccinations will have weakened your pups immune system. But what is done is done... I wouldn't give anything for at least a month.. then I would give a KILLED PARVO.. and one month later give a DISTEMPER/MEASLES....you can order these vaccines on your own.. if you go to your vet you will have to request that he separate the vaccines.. that would be all I would give the pup until the pup was about 16 months old.. then I would give one combination shot.. like a DHLPP. NO RABIES till ONE YEAR.... That is what I would do.
Art - I just think the breeder is a little bhind the loop - it was not that many years ago when breeders (me included) who wanted to do the right thing for their dogs and their customers give these numbers of shots. This is a two sided issue - the breeder is trying - he is just making a mistake. Jody is right - less is better when it comes to vaccinations.
