His uncle is the first ACD that I titled in SchH and I have high hopes that he will surpass his uncle. Unfortunately, I got into the sport when Poe was older and already had incurred shoulder injuries from weight pulling so he was retired prematurely. I am not making the same mistake with Sinjin!
How awesome,if I ever entertain the thought of getting a cattle dog I know where to go! I have always liked that breed.
Good luck with Sinjin! I like that photo of his head, the color is amazing and the detail, who took that for you?
Nice head shot. He grabbed a good expression with the mouth closed. Far too many people want that tongue hanging out. This makes him look more serious.
Photoshopping out the neck and shoulders was a bit disconcerting at first -- the disembodied head was strange. I grew to like that effect though.
For the camera techies out there, he used a Nikon D200 on that shot. Shutter speed was 1/200th second. Focal length on the lens was 28mm. The image was shot on November 16 and post-processed on February 28 (I'm assuming the camera time was set correctly). Aperature was set at f14, i.e. he really blasted the dog with a lot of light. That tiny aperature gives the good overall sharpness on the image.
The exposure is dead on. The highlights are clear and there is good detail in the shadows.
It looks like he used just one light reflected off an umbrella to the dog's front and about 6' high (look at the reflection in the eyes). I suspect he also used some kind of white card or reflector to splash some light into the shadow area under the dog's chin. I also suspect he had a hair light directly above the dog (look at the tips of his ears).
Post processing on the photo was on a Mac using Adobe Photoshop CS.
Another photography buff :-P If I recall he had an alien bee but no reflector or white card. I have another shot that super imposes Sinjin lying down below the head shot and he definately lightened that up since Sinjin has too much blue in his coat and he minimized that <vbg>
As to the dog/owner composite, it would be an improvement on me and a serious downturn for Sinjin ;-)
