Been working my 14 week Mal puppy on a rag He is vocal when he works with me. I try to keep him calm, which he is and his grip is full and not mouthy. I only let him take the rag when he is quit. Today I was working him around the little pool we got for him. Pulling the rag and getting him in and out of the pool in the rain with a couple inches of water. Sometimes gently swinging him into the pool. His grip is still full and he is calm but still vocal. By vocal I meen a little growl not loud kind of under his breath kind of hard to exspain. Am I pushing to hard and should wait till he is quit? I know it may sound like I am asking to much of him but he likes it is calm with his grip and he takes it deep. I reward when he is quit and He regrips sometimes to the tonsils. We are doing PSA that is why I am working on grip in all kinds of situations. Sorry so long. Ask if you need more info to give opinion. Thanks
ithink you dont need to make abig deal out of it especlly if he bit good and calm and his body languege show calmness to.
puppys tend to growl on tugs and bite especelly in extrim situations.
its prety normal.
on 14 weeks iwhouldnt make afuss out of it, just maybe calm him abit on the bite (palm on eyes slow petting on stomacick and back and calm high ton) somtime when we praise vocally on certain low ton on the bite its encourege the pup to growl abit.
when he calm and quiet let him win (and carry the rug for around or two) and praise with your voice.
note what voices and palm tuch and peting make him growls and what calm him down and use it.
than again iwhould give atention to his body posters when biting and growling (if you did please note tham)
Today, my usually placid puppy suddenly growled at his towel. I gave him a quick bath since it was extremely hot today and as I was drying him up, he kept on exhibiting a high prey drive for his towel. When I was holding it away from him, he growled and barked for the first time. Not at me though, but at the towel. Is this prey drive or an early sign of aggression?
