I had the animal control officer here today and she said I was "confining" the nabors dog then I proceded to make her eat her words by showing her the back door was open hehe now my question for every one here is is the dog really owned by a person if it spends a majority of time at the other persons home and demands to be let in every night (and or day) and sleeps on the other persons property?... this dog here spends most of its time on my property the animal control officer even said the dog was just barely legal for its current owners to keep and has been staying freely on this property for nearly five years and usually comes in to our house when it is raining, snowing/cold and or hot outside she allways scratches at the door to be let in and out and we never hold her here against her will now any thoughts on whos dog this might be ??... I hate morons with a badge and no brains

If out of sympathy for the dog you've been feeding and sheltering her and you feel the owner is negligent (and it sounds like it)then you will have to call Animal Control everytime the dog is loose on your property.
You are probably going to have to stop opening your home to the dog and feeding her since that seems to be muddying the waters and putting the focus on you, instead of where it rightfully belongs...on the negligent owner/neighbor.
well when I say the animal control officer says she is barely legal the dogs coat is dull (when you need sunglasses to look at mine) usually got ticks (which I pick off to keep them off of my dogs) and I brush her to clean off mud sticks ect half of the time we dont let the dog in she just walks in when the door is left open the dog loves comming in here just because it is nicer than her true home (the place was filthy last time I saw it and now has a litter of puppys and three other dogs including the bitch) because here it is either cooler or 10x warmer than over their and also her sister has started to show up here I really dont want to get her tied up in the legal system but I feel I might half to in the end
What a difficult situation. You've probably come to love the dog, taking care of it and all (love in action). Maybe you could focus the Animal Control on the issue of the litter of puppies and the filthy conditions of the home while breeding and whelping litters. Actually the SPCA might be more interested in that than Animal Control. And SPCA has resources to bring this issue before the legal system.
the only reason she even has a litter of puppies is because she let her bitch out and it got locked to mine while my dog was chained on my property the closest thing we have to the SPCA is the humane society which I dont think will help very much but I will call them and have them look in to it since I do not belive any of the dogs their have been tested lately for heart worms or fecal worms and they are all problally highly infested with fleas (the girl is my Ex and when I offered to bathe the dogs before I totally left said no she wouldent come in the shower with me to clean the critter's so I doubt if she has done it since) it is possible but not likely that they got the flea repelent drops since the blond one is still biteing and scratching also should the long haired dogs be shaved down during the summer for comfort?... Trust me when I get my hands on a dobie or rottie things around here will change drasticly and I will be ordering a few DVD's from ed for bite training and protection
It sounds like you have a lot more issues than that 1 dog and animal control coming over. If the neighbor's dogs have so many fleas, ticks and heartworms, WHAT THE HECK ARE YOU DOING LETTING THOSE DOGS NEAR YOURS? Also, why do you have your dog chained up? Sorry, but this thread is really hard to follow in order to give you good advice.
the dog that comes here I am not sure what it has wrong with it but I know it has fleas (which dont bother most of us do to the massive amounts garlic) and my dogs now that it is warm will be getting weekly flea baths every dog and human here gets ticks from the first good week of warm weather the dog WAS chained up only while the bitch was in heat (but im a softy and couldent really keep him on it after that) but most of the time this dog only goes out when one of us humans is out and now that we got the E fence set up he will be for the next few weeks be on a leash learning the fence and we cant keep the nabors dog out of here since we like to keep the doors wide open to get fresh air in the house and she enjoys the cool flooring and if we tell her to leave she gives us the finger so to speak and rolls over and says rub my belly lol
I don't know about shaving a dog's hair down during the summer. I've never done it to mine (mostly GSDs) and wouldn't (!), but I've heard of it done. Maybe it depends on the breed and how the hair grows back, etc.
Others may know better about that. Where do you live?
I'd call the Humane Society about the condition of the dogs and puppies, they have resources for legal action too.
