Hi folks...tonight I was outside working with Levi and it occurred to me just how smart this dog is. Well, actually I knew that but he just amazes me daily. I decided tonight that I would like to go to the Police Dog Trials this weekend here in Scottsdale. I want to see these dogs in action. I also think that I would like to step things up a notch with Levi. He has the Sitz, Platz and working very well on the Foos..already. He gives me confidence that as an inadequate, novice trainer I just might be able to have a very well trained dog. I was watching Ed's Building Drive and Focus Dvd advertisement and was wondering if I am ready for this work now. Levi is demonstrating more and more drive for the ball, over the treats. It's awesome to watch him get a command right and then wait for the ball. Now I don't know if I am doing it right or not but I'm not sure if I am moving too fast on this. What do you guys think? I have to say, in spite of my stupidity it appears that Levi knows exactly what he should be doing at any given moment. Genetics are the only thing I can think of! LOL!
Well Robbin, sounds like your getting the fever. I think you will really enjoy the Flinks videos. Also look into the "Obedience without conflict" (Ivan Balabanov)who also trains thru drive.
I have both and learned from each. What the heck, it's only money.
Go for it girl. The drive and focus DVD can't do anything except help you get to know your dog better and make him a more responsive dog towards training.
Does any body have a used DVD, building drive and focus available??? I really cant afford it at this time but I really need to learn and practice the material!
